Up to 750 guests from around the world are expected to fly in to Adelaide later this month for Savour Australia for what organisers are claiming is "the most comprehensive exploration of Australian wine ever undertaken".

The event is a mix of tastings and discussions about the current and future position of Australian wine.

Wine Australia market development general manager James Gosper said: "We want attendees to challenge the commonly held perceptions of Australian wine, uncover the business case for our wines and discuss Australia's role in the global wine market, but do this in a way that couples our wines with our quintessential Australian way of life.

"We'll do this through up to 20 Landmark tastings, themed lunches and dinners and discussions that will showcase wines rarely shown and themes rarely explored to uncover the innovation, diversity and quality of what Australia has to offer - presented by Australia's leading winemakers and international wine personalities."

Speakers include Stuart McNab, chief supply officer of global production, Treasury Wine Estates, who will be speaking on the topic of 'How Australia is placed to take advantage of the global trends - Our advantages over the other suppliers'.

Michael Walton of Nielsen Pacific will look at global market trends under the banner 'Understanding how consumers' lives are changing' and there will also be talks on social media, food and wine pairing and a session on engaging consumers through independent retail.

Over 100 wineries have signed for the tasting and the main hub for the event is the Adelaide Convention Centre.
