Valerie Lewis's move to Enotria opens door for Alex Layton

Published:  27 August, 2013

The last month has seen a number of changes amongst senior marketing and communications roles at major wine companies in the UK with Valerie Lewis, formerly of Negociants UK, replacing Ben Smith as head of communications at Enotria following his recent move to take up the same role at Concha y Toro. Alex Layton has subsequently moved from Westbury Communications to take over Lewis' head of marketing and publicity role at Negociants UK.

Lewis said of her new position: "I couldn't be more pleased to have joined Enotria - it's a business that represents all that is great about the world of wine. Working with people and producers from across the globe who are innovative, diverse, and, above all, quality driven is hugely exciting. The breadth and excellence of the portfolio is what has brought me to work with Enotria and I'm looking forward to contributing to the company's future".

Alison Levett, Enotria's chief executive, said, "This appointment will add depth and vision to our communications and events team and ensures that we tackle the future with a strong and dynamic approach, in line with our company strategy to deliver the best quality service to the trade and to our principals."

Layton moves to Negociants UK following four years at wine specialist PR agency Westbury Communications. Simon Thorpe, Negociants UK managing director, said of Layton's arrival: "It's a pleasure to welcome Alex on board.  He's a man with a great deal of enthusiasm for the wine category and will help us to continue to build the reputation and consumer appeal for the world class wines we represent in our portfolio.   It's an exciting time to be involved with premium Australian and New Zealand wines."

Smith moved to Conchy y Toro as head of communications earlier in the year.
