Sarah Miles promoted to managing director of Diageo Wines Europe

Sarah Miles is the new managing director of Diageo Wines Europe (DWE) as it looks to freshen up its buying and marketing teams across the group.

Miles moves up from her role as commercial development manager at DWE and was formerly managing director of Diageo Reserve Brands as well as holding other marketing and commercial roles across Diageo Europe and Asia Pacific.

Her new role will also see her oversee operations at Diageo's fine wine and indpendent businesses, Justerini & Brooks and Percy Fox & Co.

Miles' promotion coincides with the promotion of Chadwick Delaney, Justerini & Brooks' deputy managing director to the full managing director role.

Nick Hyde, previously managing director of DWE, has moved into the role of chairman of DWE from where he will also continue in his position as chairman of the Wine and Spirits Trade Association. Hew Blair remains chairman of Justerini & Brooks.

Sarah Miles said she wanted to bring a "freshness of approach to the role of the trusted wine merchant".

"We will also develop our on-trade business to focus on the very top restaurants and hotels in major UK cities."

Justerini & Brooks has made further changes to its team including Giles Burke-Gaffney's move from buyer to buying director and Julian Campbell and Kate Janacek who have moved from the customer sales team into the up-weighted buying team.
