Condé Nast Johansens has announced The George of Stamford, Lincolnshire as the overall winner of the 30th Champagne Taittinger Wine List Award, 2012.
The judging panel was headed by Sarah-Jane Evans, MW and wine editor of BBC Good Food and Olive Magazine.
The judges described the winner as "a wine list that ticks all the boxes from value for money to user friendliness while being consistently interesting across the board."
The panel highlighted the attraction of the wine lists that had clearly been created by a thoughtful owner or wine buyer of the property.
Evans said: "Overall I was really impressed by the level and diversity of entries this year, with some absolutely outstanding candidates.
"I would happily make a detour to a number of the hotels and inns which entered to carry our further research."
Also shortlisted in this category were Lime Wood in Hampshire, also commended for its Magnums and Fortified Wines and The Atlantic Hotel in Jersey, C.I.
The "Small Hotels, Inns and Restaurants category winner UK and Ireland', was The Old Rectory, Martinhoe, Devon.
Other winners included: Best newcomer - The Grove Hotel, Narberth, Pembrokeshire, and best value for money - Newick Park, Near Lewis, East Sussex.
