Published:  23 July, 2008

Majestic Wine Warehouses has teamed up with Ryanair to offer cases of wine over the Internet. Speaking at the launch last week, Lesley Kane, head of Ryanair Direct, said: Go to www.ryanair.com, home of the cheapest flights in Europe and also of great-quality inexpensive wine.'

The Ryanair Wine Club will run from now until early in the new year as a trial period.

It aims to convince visitors to the Ryanair website to stock up on their wine needs for the Christmas period.

Clicking on the Ryanair Wine Club button on the website transfers you to the page for the value case', costing 39.49 (a saving of 7) for 12 bottles of six different wines (three red, three white) with free delivery.

Majestic Wines is not the only company that uses the extensive Internet traffic generated by Ryanair - car-hire, credit-card, hotel and activity companies also use its website - although it is the first consumer-goods firm.

Majestic is expanding the number of stores that carry fine-wine selections' following the success of its St Johns Wood store, which was launched last year complete with a temperature-controlled room stocked with top Bordeaux

and Burgundy.

Belgravia and Weybridge will be the next stores to get temperature-controlled sections, with more expected in future.
