Billecart-Salmon, Nicolas Feuillatte and Greyfriars reveal new editions

Published:  20 March, 2019

Billecart-Salmon has released two Champagnes, Nicolas Feuillatte has introduced a new Champagne Terroir Premier Cru and Greyfriars Vineyard has released a limited edition Blanc de Noirs.

Florent Nys, chef de cave for Billecart-Salmon, said its Vintage 2008, a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, came from an “exceptional harvest, producing Champagnes that will age beautifully and for a long time. Our 2008 showcases the Pinot Noir, giving the Champagne an intensity that is tempered by the elegance of the Chardonnay".

March will also see Billecart-Salmon release the next vintage of the “extremely rare and complex” Le Clos Saint-Hilaire 2002. Described as an “exceptional” Champagne, made from 100% Pinot Noir, it’s “only made in the very best years and this vintage has been aged for 15 years before release”.

Elsewhere, Nicolas Feuillatte said its new Terroir Premier Cru is an “authentic champagne, bursting with culture”. Sourced from premium crus in Champagne, it “fully expresses the creativity and unique savoir-faire of Nicolas Feuillatte’s chief winemaker Guillaume Roffiaen and is the “ultimate demonstration of the infinite palette of vineyards at his disposal.”

A blend of Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay, with an RRP of €39, Nicolas Feuillatte said “over time, Terroir Premier Cru develops complexity and depth, together with subtle flavours and a wealth of aromas. On the finish, a salty vibrant burst of energy, together with great poise titillates the taste buds".

Meanwhile Greyfriars Vineyard has launched a limited edition non vintage Blanc de Noirs. A blend of 2014 and 2015 vintages, the wine has been made in the Surrey Hills with 60% Pinot Noir from 2015 and 40% Pinot Meunier from 2014.
