Hallgarten adds Bodegas Resalte de Peñafiel to Spanish portfolio

Published:  19 March, 2019

Hallgarten & Novum Wines has added Ribera del Duero producer Bodegas Resalte de Peñafiel to its Spanish portfolio.

The four-strong range, available to the UK on and off-trade now, comprises Peña Roble Joven, Resalte Vendimia Seleccionada, Resalte Crianza and Peña Roble Reserva.

Hallgarten already boasts an extensive Spanish portfolio, which was strengthened in 2018 with the introduction of 12 new producers from 10 different regions, bringing the total to 23 producers from 15 regions.

“I am delighted to strengthen our Spanish portfolio even further with the addition of these four wines from Bodegas Resalte de Peñafiel,” said Steve Daniel, Hallgarten & Novum Wines head of buying.

“The winery has an ultra-modern perspective on how wine should be made and their key to success is the vast vineyard area they have at their fingertips to work with, allowing them to express a wide range of Tempranillo styles. They are able to select grapes from different parts of the region, but all with high-altitude to retain freshness and fruit character.

“In 2018 we added real diversity to our Spanish portfolio, from the relatively small wine producing region of the Canary Islands to the well-established region of Galicia. Now, with the addition of Bodegas Resalte de Peñafiel we have ticked all the boxes in this incredible winemaking nation.”

Bodegas Resalte de Peñafiel sources its grapes from 80 hectares vines which deliver a diversity of terroirs. It says that mix, combined with “state-of-the-art winemaking with traditional methods in the vineyards” enables it to “craft modern, complex and balanced wines”.

Hailing from the Peñafiel sub-region of Ribera del Duero, the winery specialises in the production of single-variety wines made from Tempranillo.
