Inter-Rhône welcomes seven new members

Published:  22 January, 2019

Inter-Rhône has grown its stable with the addition of five new appellations and two Geographical Indicators (GI).

The latest recruits to join the trade body - the joint professional association for Côtes du Rhône and Rhône Valley AOC wines, comprises AOC Château-Grillet, AOC Crémant de Die, AOC Clairette de Die, AOC Chatillon en Diois, AOC Coteaux de Die alongside GI Eau de vie de vin des Côtes du Rhône (or Fine des Côtes du Rhône) and GI Eau de vie de marc des Côtes du Rhône (or Marc des Côtes du Rhône).

The new members, which take the total number of AOCs worked with by Inter-Rhône to 32 in addition to the two GIs, would broaden Inter-Rhône’s scope, said executive officer Eric Rosaz.

“Their interest in our organisation is testament to our significance for wine professionals in the Rhône Valley, endorsing our protocols and practices. Inter-Rhône is increasingly being recognised as a place for debate and dialogue, management and support.”

Founded in 1955, Inter-Rhône represents what is now France’s second largest AOC winegrowing region, both in terms of vineyard area and production volume.
