Fields, Morris & Verdin adds Flint to portfolio

Published:  19 September, 2018

Fields, Morris & Verdin (FMV), the specialist wine and spirits importer, has added UK winery Flint Vineyard to its producer portfolio.

FMV, which serves the restaurant and retail trades, will be distributing still wines from the Norfolk-based Flint Vineyard including its 2017 Flint Vineyard Bacchus (RRP. £16.95 and 2017 Flint Vineyard Rosé (RRP. £15.95). FMV is the agency and wholesale division of Berry Bros. & Rudd.

Flint Vineyard was founded in 2015 by husband and wife team Ben and Hannah Witchell, together with Adrian Hipwell. It is located in South Norfolk, overlooking the villages of Earsham and Bungay.

The vineyard site was selected as one of the driest and sunniest regions in England and the south-east facing vines are planted on free-draining gravel and flint soil.

In the winery, all operations are carried out by hand, including sorting and loading the grapes into the press.

"Working with FMV - part of the Berry Bros. & Rudd business represents an incredible opportunity for us,” said Hannah Witchell.

Ben Witchell added: "As a business which understands winemaking and is a huge supporter of premium wine from England, this partnership enables a smaller, boutique winery like ours to continue to strive to make the best product possible."

Wine buyer Katherine Dart MW said: “I know I speak on behalf of the rest of the business when I say how delighted we are to be distributing Flint’s wines to the UK trade via FMV and bringing its wines to Berry Bros. & Rudd customers. Our customers are big supporters of home-grown wine and it is fabulous to extend our already excellent English wine offering to incorporate Flint’s wines from Norfolk.”

This latest news follows the recent announcement from Flint Vineyards of the launch of its sparkling Charmat Rosé.
