Published:  30 August, 2018

Vinexpo is gearing up for its second Explorer event – the two-day invite-only touring event first held in Austria last September.

The second Vinexpo Explorer event, which will run 23-25 September, will be focused on and held in Sonoma County - where Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon are the most prevalent grape varieties, but which is home to more than 60 diverse varieties for wine drinkers to discover.

Designed to highlight regions and countries whose reputation has not yet “caught up with the potential of its wines”, the Sonoma event will feature 70 buyers from 28 countries, alongside a total of 50 wineries.

“Explorer brings together buyers, producers and media for in-depth knowledge exchange and one-on-one relationship building over an intensive 48hr programme with visits to vineyards and wineries in the region, talks and social events,” said a Vinexpo spokesman.

At the time of launch, Vinexpo pitched the lthe event as “the new business-generating concept for the wine and spirits industry”, which it said demonstrated the company's “business-orientated partnership side”.
