McGuigan expands Black Label with first sparkling wines

Published:  30 April, 2018

McGuigan Wines has expanded its Black Label portfolio with three sparkling wines, including a red variant, marking the first fizz to join the range.

The trio, which will be rolled out into Sainsbury’s towards the end of next month (May), comprises a Rosé, a Shiraz and a Chardonnay Pinot Noir blend (rrp: £10).

With sparkling Shiraz seeing a period of growth in the UK, now was “the perfect time” for McGuigan to be launching its own offering, said chief winemaker, Neil McGuigan.

“The past year has seen a huge increase in the appetite for sparkling wines of all varieties, and we’re confident that these Australian bubbles will offer something fresh and new for UK consumers.”

The trio was perfect for those looking for a “crisp tipple” to enjoy at celebratory occasions, whether big or small, he added.

Made with carefully selected grapes, the Black Label Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir is full of fresh tropical fruit flavours, with a creamy texture and clean, crisp and lengthy finish, with the classic blend of Chardonnay grapes and Pinot Noir resulting in added complexity and depth, whilst still maintaining impressive fruit flavours, he said.

The Rosé is described as a vibrant, fruity wine with refreshing strawberry flavours and floral blossom notes, while the Shiraz features dark berry flavours of blackcurrant and plum, and a touch of spicy oak and chocolate.
