Yealands on campaign trail to push sustainability credentials

Published:  27 February, 2018

Marlborough family winery Yealands has launched a competition offering wine lovers the chance to win a holiday to New Zealand to ‘see sustainability in action’.

The neck-collar promotion, running from 1st March to 28th May 2018, will feature on the producer’s Peter Yealands wines across a selection of retailers, including Sainsbury’s, Co-op, Booths and Waitrose.

Winners of the four 10-day holidays up for grabs will get the opportunity to witness up close the variety of ways in which Yealands ensures its business is “at the cutting edge” of sustainable wine production, said the winery.

The experience would “show what sustainability means in in practice and how it can be fun and engaging - not just a scientific concept”, said Peter Yealands.

“We have been developing new ways of working in harmony with nature which I’m sure our visitors will enjoy seeing, including the establishment of habitats to encourage vital flora and fauna such as native birds and Monarch butterflies,” he said.

In addition to the main prize, the winery is offering 200 ‘Cellar Door’ packs of Peter Yealands wines up for grabs.

Established in 2008, Yealands claims to be first winery in the world to be 100% carbon neutral from the outset, with its commitment to sustainable and ethical winemaking having earned it many industry awards.

Most recently Yealands was awarded the Enviro-Mark Solutions Award for Outstanding Performance in Carbon Product Footprint Management (NZ).
