McWilliam’s Wines moves to Enotria&Coe

Published:  12 October, 2017

Australian producer McWilliam’s Wines Group (MWG) is taking up Enotria&Coe in the UK.

The family-owned Australian producer will be leaving behind current importers Sogrape UK in November bringing across its flagship McWilliam’s brand and Mount Pleasant labels.

Enotria&Coe, which has a focus on premium wines from Down Under, was the right choice for MWG to “continue building the momentum of our portfolio”, Scott McWilliam, sixth generation winemaker and company director said.

“We needed to find a partner who would understand both the provenance of our brands, and the elegant wine styles my family has been perfecting for over 140 years. We feel that Enotria&Coe has the right strategic thinking, drive and reach to share with the market our vision for an elevated expression of Australian wines,” he added.

The McWilliam’s portfolio consists of quality cooler climate wines sourced from across the Riverina and Hunter Valley.

The producer has been based in the region since founding father, Samuel McWilliam, planted his first vines back in the 19th century.

JJ McWilliam’s who made strides to establish Riverina in the early 20th century as an area for winemaking production and a partnership with winemaker, Maurice O’Shea, who brought the wine making techniques and styles of the Old World to Mount Pleasant in the Hunter Valley have helped to establish a reputation for innovative, contemporary winemaking.
