Amber Beverage acquires stake in Cellar Trends

Published:  15 May, 2017

Amber Beverage Group has acquired a stake in Cellar Trends – a move that marks the Baltic company’s first entrance into the UK.

As part of the new partnership, announced today, the management and operational control of the UK wine and spirits distributor would remain unchanged under the direction of the Watts and Marriott families – the majority shareholders of Cellar Trends.

The UK business said it was excited by the alliance with Amber Beverage Group, which’s portfolio includes Moskovskaya Vodka and Riga Black Balsam, and the potential it would bring to “develop Cellar Trends further”.

“The partnership will give us access to other product areas and strengthen our portfolio and teams for the benefit of both existing and new brand owners,” said joint managing directors Martin Watts and David Marriott, adding the distributors shared the same philosophy on ways in which to work closely in partnership with brand owners to build their brands in the UK to “mutual advantage”.

Amber Beverage Group, which claimed to be the first Baltic spirits producer and distributor to enter the UK via becoming a co-owner of a distribution company, said the acquisition formed part of a strategic strategy to expand its international footprint.

“We look forward to integrate our collection within the Cellar Trends portfolio and think it will make a great synergy for growth for all brands and both companies,” said chief executive officer Seymour Ferreira.

Amber Beverage Group’s, which forms part of the global SPI group, international business covers over 50 export markets operated from Riga, Latvia and Tequila, Mexico. The company unites over 1,400 employees in several companies across the Baltics and in Mexico.
