Jack Daniel's unveils Scottish bartender competition

Published:  25 October, 2016

Iconic Tennessee whisky brand Jack Daniel's has launched a nationwide bartending competition across Scotland.

Competitors are invited to use Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 to create a cocktail that tells a story with creativity, passion and flair.

The ten bartenders who make the shortlist will be visited in their bars by Erik Lorincz, head bartender at the Savoy Hotel's American Bar and Stuart McCluskey, a former bartender himself and owner of The Bon Vivant and The Devil's Advocate in Edinburgh.

Three winners will then be selected. The winners will be flown to New York where they will work with mentors to create, plan and host an event at The Dead Rabbit Grocery & Grog cocktail bar.

From New York they will travel to Lynchburg, Tennessee to see for themselves the skills and expertise at work in the Jack Daniel's Distillery.

The competition was announced at The Glasgow Sessions, a series of talks led by Jack Daniel's head distiller, Jeff Arnett last week.

Bartenders interested in competing should visit http://tennesseecalling.com to enter.

The closing date for entries is November 1.
