Milk-based vodka to launch into US and Australia with new appointment

Published:  16 May, 2016

Black Cow Pure Milk Vodka has brought on board a new global sales director to help launch the spirit into new key markets worldwide.

Emma Wykes joined the Dorset-based brand as of May 1 and will be helping to launch the premium spirit into the US, Hong Kong, Denmark, Spain and Australia.

She joins Black Cow founders Paul Archard and Jason Barber.

As part of their global push, they will be launching into the US market spirits where the biggest share is taken by vodka - although sales of vodka have stalled in recent years due to the rise of North American whiskey.

Wykes said: "It feels great to be working with such a great tasting and looking brand and the impressive team at Black Cow. We have some big plans for the next five years and I look forward to be part of that journey."

Black Cow is made from the milk of grass grazed cows.

It is distilled from the whey of milk and treated to a secret blending process created by dairy farmer Jason Barber.

His inspiration came from a desire to diversify the produce from his 250 strong dairy herd and his personal interest in vodka.

Wykes has worked in the drinks industry for over 20 years and joins from Pontoon Cocktails where she was Sales Director.

She was also formerly Managing Director of Marblehead Brand Development, part of the Quintessential Brands Group and helped build the Martin Miller's Gin brand during seven years with The Reformed Spirits Company.

Black Cow was launched in 2012 and is distributed by Mangrove in the UK.

The California distributor will be Wine Warehouse.

It is avabile from 1,000 retail stores including Marks & Spencer, Majestic, Fortnum & Mason, Selfridges, Berry Bros. & Rudd and retails for £32.00 for 70cl. ABV 40%.
