Around the Globe cocktail menu at London's oldest hotel

Published:  25 April, 2016

The Donovan Bar in Brown's Hotel, Mayfair, is launching a jet-set new cocktail menu showcasing mixology innovations from around the world

From May 10, the bar will be serving seven new cocktails - one for each continent - which will be introduced to customers via their sense of smell.

The Around the Globe cocktail menu will be presented via seven cards, all of which can be smelt and all of which hold a different scent according to the continent they represent.

The collection is the creation and work of Damian Kwiatkowski and Riccardo Vecchio.

All the creations can be enjoyed individually or the collection of all seven scented cards can be bought in an engraved, silver card holder and redeemed when they are presented at The Donovan Bar.

The scent and inspiration behind the Africa cocktail is pineapple. If the pineapple smell appeals, guests will be presented with a Bacardi Gold Rum-based drink, mixed with pineapple syrup, banana liqueur and three drops of chocolate bitters.

The cocktail is served on a banana leaf.

Antarctica is based around the scent of cold mint, while Asia draws inspiration from floral aromas and is served in three different coloured cups.

The Australia cocktail is based around Dalmore 15- year-old whisky, mixed with a few drops of native finger lime bitters, cinnamon syrup and green apple liqueur.

Europe uses strawberry, North America, Hudson Bourbon Whisky and South America, coffee.

The Donovan Bar, part of London's oldest hotel, has long been renowned for its cocktails.

This particular project has been two years in the making.

Each cocktail is £18.

A pack of seven cards, entitling guests to all seven cocktails, is £135.
