Hallgarten marks International Women's Day with Women With Bottle promotion

Published:  07 March, 2016

Leading UK distributor Hallgarten Druitt & Novum has launched a three-month promotion celebrating women winemakers to coincide with International Women's Day on March 8.

The Women With Bottle promotion is targeted at both independent wine merchants and the on-trade and focuses on 17 winemakers from across the Hallgarten portfolio.

Wines included range from classic regions in France, Italy and Germany, to less well-known producers in Spain, South Africa and Japan.

Hallgarten is offering its customers a 12-for-11 deal on wines in the promotion, and promises bespoke digital and social media content to support the campaign, including winemaker Q&As and profiles.

Beverly Tabbron MW from Hallgarten said:  "Some of the best wines in the Hallgarten portfolio are made by women so it's about time we shouted about these great wines and the women behind them. "They've taken the helm in a historically male environment and we're proud to represent them in the UK."

Winemakers included in the Women With Bottle promotion include Samantha O'Keefe from the Lismore Estate in Greyton, South Africa; Alicia Eyaralar from Tandem in Navarra, Spain; Steffi Weegmüller-Scherr from the Weingut Weegmüller winery in Pfalz, Germany; and Ayana Misawa from the Grace winery in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan.

Italy is represented by Tuscany's Eleonora Marconi from Castello di Nipozzano and Francesca Pratesi from Castello di Pomino, and by Caterina Bellanova of San Marzano in Puglia.

Ten of the winemakers in the promotion are from France.

From Bordeaux there is Cecile Dupuis of Château Beausejour de Bonalgue, Estelle Roumage of Château Lestrille and Isabelle Fort of Château La Fleur Grands Landes.

From Burgundy there is Nadine Ferrand of Domaine Ferrand, Juliette Joblot of Domaine Joblot, Sabine Mollard of Domaine Marc Morey.

Françoise Bedel from Champagne Françoise Bedel represents the Champagne region, Louise Chéreau from Chéreau-Carré represents the Loire, and Christine Vernay from Domaine Georges Vernay and Séverine Lemoine from Domaine des Cigalounes represent the northern and southern Rhône respectively.
