Canada joins Bibendum-PLB portfolio

Published:  18 February, 2016

Two new Canadian agencies, Stratus Vineyards and Norman Hardie, have been added to the Bibendum-PLB portfolio, representing the company's first foray into the country's wines.

From Stratus, a very modern boutique winery on the Niagara Peninsula, Bibendum-PLB are taking on the Signature Stratus White blend, Cabernet Franc, Charles Baker Riesling and the estate's first ever Riesling Icewine. The wines are made with a very 'hands-off' approach at the first winery in the world to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification.

Ontario-based Norman Hardie, made by ex-sommelier turned winemaker 'Norm' Hardie, adds cool climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to the portfolio from its vineyards in Prince Edward County and Niagara.

Both estates have been chosen as representatives of the cool climate quality wines to be found in Canada.

"Canada is a new and exciting addition for Bibendum and we wanted to make sure that we found something that truly reflects the quality that is being produced in this part of the world," said Paul Meihuizen, Buyer for Bibendum PLB.

"With both Stratus and Norman Hardie we have uncovered something special that we believe is going to appeal to our customers. We have found some sensational wines that are benefitting from Canada's cool climate and quality winemaking."

Stratus Vineyards and Norman Hardie will be available to the UK on trade via Bibendum and to independent merchants via Walker & Wodehouse from 1 March.
