Justerini & Brooks signs exclusive deal with Château Unang

Published:  07 January, 2016

Fine wine merchant Justerini & Brooks has been appointed the new, sole agents for boutique Rhône winery Château Unang.

Château Unang is a small domaine in the foothills of Mont Ventoux owned by Scottish émigrés, James and Joanna King.

It comprises some 14 hectares of vines on south- and east-facing slopes at between 220 and 320 metres above sea-level.

The distinctive sandy soil of the estate, known as les sables d'Unang, is only found in Unang and a few small parcels of land in the Gigondas AOC.

The vineyard's white wines were certified organic in 2012, with the rosé and red following suit in 2013. All the grapes are picked by hand.

Giles Burke-Gaffney, buying director at Justerini & Brooks, said: "We are delighted to have been appointed exclusive agents for Château Unang.

"We look forward to working with James and Joanna, and our sales team is very excited about showing the wines to our top restaurant and retail customers across the country."

Justerini & Brooks was founded in 1749.

It is currently one of the few wine businesses still owned by Diageo, after the global drinks giant's recent sale of most of its wine holdings to Treasury Wine Estates.

Château Unang was previously represented in the UK by McKinley Vintners.

McKinley Vintners merged with New Generation Wines on January 1.
