Published:  01 December, 2015

Chile's Valdivieso winery, together with its distributor Bibendum PLB, have appointed Jonas Tofterup as brand ambassador and export manager for the UK and Europe.

Tofterup, who is Danish, joins the company from Hammeken Cellars in Spain. He holds a MSc in Viticulture and Enology and is currrently studying to become a Master of Wine.

He is fluent in both Danish, English and Spanish.

Tofterup will work across the whole Valdivieso portfolio, but will focus in particular on the Caballo Loco range of ultra-premium, non-vintage solera-style wines.

The company has recently expanded the Caballo Loco brand with its Grand Cru series, which includes wines from Limarí, Sagrada Familia, Maipo and Apalta.

Valdivieso was founded in 1879 and was the first vineyard in South America to make sparkling wines.

Its wines are currently made by New Zealand-born winemaker Brett Jackson.

Marianne Fillion, Bibendum PLB's supplier relationship manager for South America, said: "It's great having Jonas on board. We are very supportive and proactive in the promotion of premium Chile and we feel that Jonas, with his depth of knowledge and experience, will help us hand sell the Caballo Loco range to sommeliers and premium retailers."
