Wines of Chile launches Mercado Chileno event for consumers

Wines of Chile has announced a new consumer event to follow its trade tasting in September. Mercado Chileno will take place at Old Spitalfields Market in London on 11 and 12 September.

Visitors to the event will have the chance to sample over 200 Chilean wines from some 40 wineries.

Wines of Chile aims to bring the colour, excitement and passion of a Chilean street market to the centre of London.

The Three Wine Men - Oz Clarke, Olly Smith and Tim Atkin MW - will be on hand in the marketplace to chat about the depth and range of Chile's wine industry.

A Chilean chef from Fine Dining Stars will demonstrate how to cook a range of authentic dishes and discuss Chilean cuisine in more detail. There will also be stalls offering Chilean street food from Rica Rica and others, and Sunday Telegraph Columnist Suzy Atkins will be sharing ideas for food and wine matching.

Visitors will also have the chance to meet Jancis Robinson MW, who will be signing advance copies of the new fourth edition of her Oxford Companion to Wine.

Other entertainment will include Chilean music and dancing, a Pisco cocktail bar and a range of stalls covering everything from artisanal craft traditions to travel choices.

Tickets cost £27.50 per person and include a free wine sample from every stall.
