William Grant invites London's leading bartenders to Highland fling

Published:  07 August, 2015

William Grant & Sons UK hosted its inaugural Highland Festival at Haggerston Park on Sunday, 2 August.

The UK spirits producer invited 48 of London's leading bartenders to compete against each other in a range of challenges to win a trip to Iceland with Reyka Vodka.

The bartenders were divided into six teams of eight, each team representing a key brand from William Grant's portfolio.

The challenges included The Ramos Fizz Cocktail Relay, the 16 Legged-Race, Human Bowling, an Inflatable Obstacle Course and a Tug of War.

Competitors were also able to undertake more familiar tasks at the Reyka 'make your own' Bloody Mary station.

The trip to Iceland was won by Team Disaronno under the leadership of Rod Eslamieh, UK Brand Ambassador for Disaronno and Tia Maria.

Ten competitors were also chosen at random to win examples of the distiller's core brands, including Glenfiddich, Hendrick's and Tullamore Dew.

Matt Sayer, prestige on-trade manager for William Grant, said: "The Highland Festival was our way to give London's bartenders a day off, to all get together and have fun, doing something a little different.

"For us at William Grant & Sons UK, it was a chance to showcase our portfolio of brands and our ambassadors in a relaxed and informal setting.

"We look forward to making this a staple of the industry calendar."
