Pinkster Gin expands sales and brand team

The Pinkster gin brand has taken a further step on its expansion path by recruiting the retail director from Cambridge Wine Merchants.

Lyndsey Spellman has left the regional specialist retail chain after 10 years with the business to join Pinkster as a full-time sales manager.

The raspberry-infused gin has just gained new wholesale listings with Nectar Imports, Mullwood Wines in Lancashire and St Austell Brewery in Cornwall, adding to distribution gains with Coe Vintners and Gordon & MacPhail announced at the end of 2014.

The gin brand was founded in 2013 but stepped up its expansion plans last autumn after securing second-round finance from an angel investor.

Spellman's brief will be to gain accounts in the on and off trade, initially in eastern England.

Managing director Stephen Marsh described Spellman as a "big hire". He said: "We hold Cambridge Wine Merchants in the highest of esteem, so as a local small business, we're thrilled to have snaffled her up.

"Lyndsey's formidable track record together with her passion for quirky, artisanal products and encyclopedic gin knowledge, gave us little choice.

"As anyone who's met her will vouch, she's a force of nature and a demon salesperson."

Spellman added: "I've watched Pinkster's growth from the sidelines and am look forward to sharing such an original product with both consumers and the industry."

Spellman will be working alongside consulting head of sales Mark Leveson-Gower to recruit a London-based brand ambassador. Pinkster has also appointed Claire Houghton as north west England brand ambassador. Houghton is head bartender at Living Venture's Gusto in Alderley Edge, Cheshire.

Marsh added: "We're two years old this month - sometimes I can't help but scratch my head to think how far we've come in a short space of time."

Pinkster is sold only in 70cl bottles with an rrp of £35.
