Pret A Manger trials evening menu with beer and wine in London

Published:  09 April, 2015

Pret A Manger, the quick-stop breakfast and lunch spot, is now trialling "Good Evenings", a dinner menu at its Strand outlet which includes beer and wine.

This is the first time in chain's history to trial an evening offering.

The dinner offering will include several small plates, hot toasties, salads, hot pots, mac and cheese options, soups and desserts. Additionally, there will be selection of wines including three reds, three whites and a prosecco. There will be two different craft beers available as well.

Small plates such as olives and bread, warmed spicy meatballs, sweet potato wedges and baked falafel all come in under £4 each. Mains will include a buffalo mozzarella salad (£4.95), a chicken and bacon cobb salad (£6.95), or a hot quinoa hot pot like Korean BBQ pulled pork (£5.95) to name just a few.

The trial of 'Good Evenings' will begin being served at 6 PM, following an evening transformation and will run until 11 PM.

Don't expect to eat the food on the go either, although if time is of the essence it can easily be accommodated. Customers will be seated at tables, orders taken and food promptly served at the table, like any other restaurant- cutlery and plates included as well.

The trial comes fowling several customer requests that establishment accommodate evening diners and took six months of preparation.

Other major chains similar to Pret A Manger, like Starbucks, have started trialling evening menus in an attempt to attract more evening customers. In December the goliath coffee chain announced at its investor meeting it would be begin offering beer, wine and 'evening' food in 3,000 of its 11,900 cafés in the US. It announced earlier this year that it planned to start serving its evening menu at its Stansted Airport location once opened.
