Wine Treasury, a London-based speciality wine importer, has added two US-based wines, Terlato Wine brands Rutherford Hill from Napa Valley and Grace Lane from Washington state, to its portfolio.

"We are extremely pleased to add Rutherford Hill and Grace Lane to our small portfolio of exceptional North American wines," said James Doidge, managing director for The Wine Treasury.  "We limit our portfolio to wines that we personally like and frankly, that are made by people we like, and for these reasons, the Terlato partnership is a perfect fit for us."

The Wine Treasury limits its portfolio to approximately 40 brands from around the world, which it supplies to high end wine shops, restaurants, hotels and bars across the UK. A North American specialist, it focusses on importing wines from California, Washington State and Oregon.

John Terlato, vice chairman of Terlato Wines International said it was an ideal partnership for them. "Rutherford Hill and Grace Lane have major growth potential in the UK and The Wine Treasury understands that these wines are hand-crafted wines and of exceptional quality.  We are excited to work with them as they introduce these beautiful wines to wine consumers throughout the UK."

Terlato WInes has been in the UK since the early 2000s, but started to focus in earnest on the market about four to five years ago. The attractiveness of UK wine consumers, which Telarto views as "sophisticated", makes the market an ideal target for the company's portfolio of wines.

The recent growth of premium wines within the UK and the rise of California and other US artisan wine producers in the on-trade also makes it a suitable fit for Terlato WInes.

Several of Terlato Wines will be avaiable to try at next week's Go West! Tasting on March 9th.

Read a more in-depth interview with John Terlato and other California producers in this month's edition of Harpers Wine and Spirit, which is out on Friday March 6 and focuses on the recent growth of California wines in the UK.
