George Clooney is the latest A list star to launch his own drink in to the UK as he looks to make a name for his ultra-premium tequila, Casamigos.

Casamigos Tequila already claims to be the fastest growing ultra-premium tequila in the United States and is finally available in the UK after much speculation, fuelled by the fact Clooney was seen drinking his tequila at his recent wedding in Venice.

Casamigos will be distributed in the UK through Cellar Trends.

The brand is actually a joint venture with Rande Gerber, founder of the Gerber Group and Gerber Spirits and US restaurateur Michael Meldman.

It is named after Clooney and Gerber's houses in Mexico and literally means "house of friends". It comes with a CV of gold medals won in a series of spirit competitions, including the Los Angeles International Spirits Competition, the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, The Beverage Testing Institute, and The New York World Wine & Spirits Competition.

Clooney and Gerber said of Casamigos: "We love tequila. On the rocks, by the shot, at times, straight from the bottle. We are excited to bring Casamigos to the UK. It's a great feeling to share something we created, drink and are extremely proud of."

Clooney added: "We worked on the creation of Casamigos Tequila with our master distiller in Jalisco, Mexico, for years and held many blind tastings until we knew we got it right. We've been drinking Casamigos with friends and family for over six years."

It is currently available in small batches of Blanco, Reposado and Añejo from hand-selected 100% Blue Weber agaves, grown in the rich red clay soil and cool climate of Mexico's Jalisco Highlands for a minimum of seven years.

After harvest, the agave piñas are roasted in traditional brick ovens for seventy-two hours before undergoing an extra-slow fermentation process over an additional eighty hours, nearly double the industry standard.

The Blanco has a RRP of £49.99 and is aged for two months whilst the Reposado has a RRP of £54.99 and the Añejo, RRP £59.99, are aged for seven and 14 months respectively in premium American white oak barrels. "All expressions are great served neat or on the rocks, and are the perfect base for premium cocktails," says Gerber.

Each batch is numbered and signed by Gerber and Clooney.

As for the bottle's design Clooney said: "We talked about how this was going to be like the bottles you see in old John Wayne movies where you slide the bottle down the bar, pull the cork out with your teeth, and pour yurself a shot."
