France Summit 2014: UK trade figures on getting the most out of French wine

In it Peter McCombie MW, on-trade wine consultant and co-chair of the IWC, said France continues to be the country that restaurants go to for "consistency" a "bit of glamour"  and "value for money" which makes the category still "super important".

Ewan Murray, PR manager at the Wine Society, said that considering half of its business comes from France it is "key" that it "knows what is going on" in the sector and "what's new and what's not".

Raul Diaz, training manager at Jascots, believes days like the France Summit provide a "easy" way to get on top of what is such an important category.

Andy Clark, account director at Matthew Clark, said he was there to catch up with its key producers and get a handle on emerging trends from France. Nicolas Bauer at Free Run Wines agreed and said it had given him insights in to where the French wine market is going.

Ferenk Zelenak of Blacksmiths independent wine merchant, said it was a good opportunity to try and find new wines for his business.

Daniel Lambert who runs his own independent import and distribution business said it was a good opportunity to sound out other people in the trade and gauge their opinions on where French wines are going.

Chris Powell of the Local Wine School wanted to talk to French producers and their generic bodies and see what steps they are taking to talk to UK consumers.
