Three new rums have been granted approval to carry the Authentic Caribbean Rum (ACR) Marque as the initiative widens its portfolio and presence in its key international markets including the UK.

Three new rums have been granted approval to carry the Authentic Caribbean Rum (ACR) Marque as the initiative widens its portfolio and presence in its key international markets including the UK.

The three new rum distilleries to join ACR are: Hampden Estate Gold, Monymusk Plantation Special Reserve and Westerhall Vintage.

It takes the number of distilleries now operating under the ACR system,  to reflect the heritage, quality and provenance of Caribbean rum, to 18.

Two of the new rum members come from Jamaica: Hampden Estate Gold produced in the Hampden area using 100% pot still rum; and Monymusk Plantation Special Reserve produced by National Rums of Jamaica - a mix of the best mature rums produced in the country.

Westerhall Vintage is from Grenada and is one of the dark amber rums that are becoming increasingly popular from the Caribbean.

The ACR initiative is run by WIRSPA (the West Indies Rum and Spirits Producers' Association)  and looks to also demonstrate the diversity of rums being produced in the Caribbean. The rums will now feature in the ongoing trade educational campaign to help promote the ACR marque in its key European markets, including the UK.
