Premium British gin brand, Boodles Gin, which has enjoyed success in international markets, is being made availabe in the UK for the first time with a national listing at Sainsbury's and a number of prestigious on-trade outlets.

The gin, which has always been made in the UK and dates back to 1845, has previously only been targeted at the US and Japan. It is now being produced by G&J Greenall  under license from Proximo Spirits and hopes to gain market share in the burgeoning UK branded gin market.

The 40% abv gin features up to nine different botanicals including sage, rosemary and coriander, which provide a citrusy taste, as well as nutmeg, angelica root and seed, cassia bark and caraway. The neutral spirit is distilled from wheat before being re-distilled in a traditional copper pot still at G&J Greenall, allowing the alcohol to evaporate at a lower temperature.

Boodles Gin has also gained a listing at Selfridges and will be on sale at each of its UK outlets.

Rob Curteis, head of marketing at Proximo Spirits, said: "We're really excited to have launched Boodles Gin in Selfridges and nationwide at Sainsbury's. Boodles Gin, like Selfridges and Sainsbury's, was born in Britain so it's great to see it finally hitting the shop shelves here."

Boodles Gin comes in a  stylish square 70cl bottle of 70cl with a royal blue Boodles Gin label.

It has also been taken on by a number of high profile hotels, bars and restaurants including: Dukes Hotel, The Gilbert Scott, Kensington Place, Star At Night - Gin Club, the Ivy Club, Soho House Group, Grand Union Bars, ETM Group, Shaker & Co, Hidden Door, Graphic, Balthazar, Port House, Barworks 5CC, Oliver Conquest, 3 Kings, Bar Music Hall and The Haggerston.

It retails with a rrp of £22.
