Wine Australia is looking to highlight the link between its diverse food and wine offers with a new Dine Australia initiative at this month's London annual tasting.

The move fits nicely with its new ongoing strategy to align the story about Australila's wine diversity with its strong food and restaurant scene and promote the country as a destination for world class dining. The annual Australia Day Tasting, to be held at Lindley Hall on January 30, will include a dedicated space for food and wine.

It will include a number of sessions championing different wine styles and how well they match with food and will be hosted by Michelin-starred chef Roger Jones of the Harrow at Little Bedwyn and industry specialist and sommelier, Luke Robertson of Wine Networks in London, who has worked at restaurants including Chez Bruce and the Ledbury.

Jones has become well known in the trade for championing Australian wine on his award winning wine list.

Yvonne May, Wine Australia's UK and European director, hoped Dine Australia would help "breathe new life into the Australian food and wine industry".

"Living outside of Australia it's often hard to comprehend the calibre of Australian food and wine, yet recent studies tell us there is increasing demand for new food and wine experiences," she said.

"For the first time Dine Australia will demonstrate that Australian wine is not only incredible alone, but with our favourite dishes. In doing so you will see just how versatile our wines are and how the unique textures and flavours can change your complete dining experience. It will also re-establish Australia as a must-see destination for world-class food and wine."

The Dine Australia session times at the tasting will be:

11am - Riesling.

12pm - Sauvignon Blanc.

1pm - Chardonnay.

2pm - Pinot Noir.

3pm - Shiraz.

The Australia Day Tasting promises to show over 1,000 wines, with 80 tables of exhibitors and up to 800 visitors from across the trade.
