Master Sommelier Ronan Sayburn to launch his own wine academy

Published:  29 November, 2013

Master Sommelier, Ronan Sayburn, has launched his own wine academy in London offering training for those studying from WSET level 2 up to Master of Wine and Master Sommelier exams.

Sayburn, who is one of only 214 Master Sommeliers in the world, will run the academy from immediate effect with courses normally running on Monday or Tuesday nights or during the day on Saturday.

Additionally, the wine academy will be available for trade, corporate and public events. Sayburn will also be offering training and service for private clients with their own wine portfolios and providing PR services.

Sayburn has over 20 years' experience in the wine industry and started his career as an assistant head sommelier for Raymond Blanc and went on to work for other high-profile establishments including Gordon Ramsay's three-star Michelin restaurant, Hospital Road. He was most recently director of wine and spirits for the Hotel du Vin group.

Sayburn said he saw an opportunity to give something back to an industry that has been so good to him over the years.

"I have been extremely fortunate in the help and guidance I have been given during my career by working with some of the best chefs and wine experts in the world. Without them I would never have been able to develop and explore my passion for wine. One of the great pleasures in my life is being able to impart the knowledge I have learnt to the next generation of wine lovers and members of the public wanting to know more about the fascinating subject of wine," he said.
