Treasury Wine Estates streamlines senior executive team

Published:  27 November, 2013

Treasury Wine Estates (TWE) has announced today that its executive leadership team, which included five brand business unit leaders and four regional business units, will be reduced to three roles consisting of one chief marketing officer and two regional chief commercial officers, effective immediately.

TWE said in statement that "most of those who were previously on TWE's executive leadership team will be staying with the business in key roles". Two people will be leaving TWE, Chris Flaherty and Anthony Davie.

The restructure has been made in an effort to make roles and responsibilities clearer at the top of the organisation and streamline the reporting structure.  It will also reduce the number of direct reports to Warwick Every-Burns, the acting chief executive officer of TWE, following the departure of David Dearie earlier in the year, from 13 down to seven.

Simon Marton has been appointed as the chief marketing officer, Sandra LeDrew will head up the Americas as a new regional chief commercial officer and Andrew Carter will head the Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East and Africa as a new regional chief commercial officer.

Every-Burns said: "As a result of the changes announced today TWE will have a much simpler and more effective structure. Wine is a complex business and to deliver on TWE's strategic growth ambitions we need to ensure that our management structure is as simple and effective as possible. I am confident that these changes will help drive our business forward."

Warwick Every-Burns has been the interim chief executive officer at Treasury Wine Estates since September 23, 2013 after the former ceo, David Dearie, was let go following a AUD $160m write down of wine stock across the business, the bulk of which was in the United States. As a result of the write down, TWE is currently facing two possible lawsuits, for more information on the lawsuits please click here.
