Living Ventures opens specialist Liverpool rum bar

Published:  14 November, 2013

Restaurant operator Living Ventures has opened a specialist rum bar The Smugglers Cove in Albert Dock, Liverpool, in a £1 million investment.

It is the fourth venue under The New World Trading Company (NWTC) format and will consist of a restaurant and bar offering a specialised rum list cocktails, craft beers and ales, Champagne and wine.

This opening follows the success of the company's other NWTC restaurants; The Oast House in Manchester and The Botanist, in Leeds and Alderley Edge and joins Living Ventures' Gusto restaurant and bar at the dock.

The food menu is inspired by the deli, rotisserie and BBQ and live music will be performed by local musicians on a daily basis.

Tim Bacon, chief executive officer, said: "This is an exciting time for NWTC.  Our current offering has proved to be a success in a tough economic climate and we feel Liverpool is the obvious choice for the next evolution of NWTC. Liverpool is a vibrant and exciting city and I believe The Smugglers Cove will be a great addition to what is already on offer at Albert Dock."

NWTC has a forecast turnover of £9.5 million for this financial year with an expansion planned for London in 2014. The company was established in 1999 by Tim Bacon and Jeremy Roberts. The portfolio includes high street brands such as Gusto and Blackhouse, the award winning New World Trading Company, The Alchemist as well as bespoke venues Artisan kitchen and bar, Grand Pacific and the high end restaurant and bars, Australasia and Manchester House.
