Penfolds recorking clinic to return to London

Published:  18 October, 2013

Iconic Australian wine brand Penfolds will be hosting a recorking clinic, the first in five years, on October 22 at the Berkeley hotel in London, offering collectors and owners an opportunity to have their wines examined and recorked if necessary.

Penfolds began hosting its recorking clinic in 1991 and has since assessed over 100,000 bottles all over the world. Penfolds winemakers visually inspect the wine, and if necessary will open it, top off and the recapsule bottles, offering the ultimate post-sale customer service.

Chrisite's, the famed auction house, will also be on hand to assess the investment value of wine collections. For collectors of Penfolds it offers an opportunity to meet the winemaker and become more educated with wines purchased, including getting the story of the wine, the best times to open the wine and cellaring tips.

Peter Gago, chief winemaker for Penfolds, said: "We're delighted to be bringing the Penfolds recorking clinic back to the UK. No two clinics have been alike, no two stories the same. It's all about people, humanity, emotion and wine."
