Last call for entries to Wines of Germany's Get it On... competition

Published:  15 August, 2013

As Wines of Germany's Get it On... competition gathers pace, it is seeing more than 70 wineries jostling for listings in the UK.

The competition aims to bring German producers' wines to the attention of key influencers and buyers in the UK market.

The judging panel has been revealed and includes Siobhan Irons, Matthew Clark; Anne Jones, Waitrose; Kate Dowdeswell, Awin Barratt Siegel Wine Agencies; Jamie Hutchinson, the Sampler; Christine Parkinson, Hakkasan; Guillaume Mahaut, ETM Group; and The Winery's David Motion.

Nicky Forrest, managing director of Wines of Germany, said: , "This summer has really seen the UK trade and consumer engaging with German wines. We had nearly 80 restaurants and retailers take part in our 31 Days of German Riesling campaign and we sampled over 22,500 consumers at festivals around the UK.

"The result is that there is a resurgence of interest in the UK market amongst German wine producers which is incredibly exciting. This year is looking hugely positive, with a 7% increase in sales of German wine over £6 (Nielsen MAT to April 25, 2013) and we've been thrilled by the response to Get it On...

"There are some amazing undiscovered producers in Germany and we are hoping to be able to introduce some of them to the UK in the next few months as a result of this competition."

Registration for Get it On... closes tomorrow (August 16); find entry forms here: http://www.winesofgermany.co.uk/get-it-on-wine-lists
